Our Practice
Dr. David R. Starnes![]() Dr.Starnes was born in Houston Texas where he received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College Of Optometry. He received his therapeutic certification in 1991. In addition to his general practice he specializes in Low Vision Care and Neuro-optometry. He has been practicing at the Manchaca Road location for over 30 years Dr. Starnes enjoys examining patients of all ages including infants and toddlers. He provides comprehensive eye examinations, contact lens examinations, LASIK co-management, treats ocular diseases and injuries as well as prescribing low vision devices and neuro-optometric management. Dr. Starnes has been involved in many professional and civic organizations. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, has served on many committees of the Central Texas Optometric Society, Texas Optometric Association, American Optometric Association and the Neuro Optometric Rehabilitation Association. He served as chairman of the Optometric Advisory Commitee for the Texas Commission For The Blind and was the consultant to the low vision clinic at the Texas School For The Blind and Visually Impaired for over 20 years. He has also served on committees for the Lions Culb, South Austin Civic Club, and his church. Dr. Roger A. Duke![]() Dr. Duke grew up in South Dakota and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He moved to Texas after being discharged from the navy and attended the University of Houston, College of Optometry, where he received his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1980. After graduation, he wanted to expand his perspective, so he began practicing in a variety of optometric settings in Salt Lake City, Dallas and San Antonio. In 1984 he moved to Austin, "fell in love with the place" and has been here ever since. Dr. Duke is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Texas Optometric Association, the Central Texas Optometric Society and the South Austin Lions Club. Dr.Duke is licensed in Texas as a Therapeutic Optometrist and an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. His areas of practice include glaucoma therapy, dry eye therapy, LASIK co-management, specialty contact lens fitting, computer vision syndrome therapy, ocular disease and injury therapy as well as general optometry.
